| Yardsale (new) | Saturday May 5th | 8 am to 1 pm |
| Rain Date | Saturday May 12th | 8 am to 1 pm |
Worried that these dates conflict with major spring happenings? No problem. We made sure to schedule around Easter Sunday (April 8th), Tax Day (April 15th), and Mother’s Day (May 13th). Save the Dates and join the fun!
We have very special, creative, and dedicated volunteers on the Welcoming Committee like Flori Piccolo, who coordinated all the hospitality for the Annual Meeting on November 3rd. Thanks to the dedication and generosity of people like her, we’re able to create community spirit to make this such a special place.
If you’re interested in joining our group, have fun, meet great people, and contribute your energy and creativity, please give Grace Nozaki a call (703.593.3157) or send an email (gknozaki@gmail.com). We’d love to have you on board!
Annual Halloween & Pet Parade - Click Here for Photos
The Welcoming Committee celebrated the fall season with the 2nd annual Halloween Costume and Pet Parade on Sunday, October 30th. On the picture perfect fall afternoon, little superheroes, princesses, and other stars, as well as well-appointed puppies in Fairfax Station marched down Robert Carter from the pool grounds to the home of Doug and Flori Piccolo, where they scored ghost lollipops and Milkbone treats. They were led by the Cavalier mascot from Woodson High School, and by a spirited Honey Bear, aka Barbara Clark, who put in hours of work to bring the event to our community. Many ventured a bit further to admire the spooky and elaborate O'Donnell Cemetery on the corner of Robert Carter and Clara Barton. A big thanks to Barbara Clark, the Woodson Leadership Team, Flori Piccolo, the O'Donnells, and to all the great volunteers who make this such a wonderful place to live.

Fairfax Station Welcoming Committee Successfully Hosts First Garden Tour
As any resident of Fairfax Station will tell you, trying to predict Northern Virginia weather in the Spring is a lot like ordering New York Chinese take-out: it can be too hot; can be cold and soggy; or can be exactly what you expect. Luckily, on Sunday May 15th, the day of the first Fairfax Station Blue Ribbon Garden Tour (free to all Fairfax Station homeowners), the weather turned in our favor and for exactly two hours we had a nice, sunny, breezy afternoon.
For this first tour, the focus was on four of our Fairfax Station homes, highlighting such features as curb appeal, hardscaping, water features, sun gardening, and specialized species (rhododendrons). Though the turn-out was a bit light for this first tour, “We expect this event to grow and increase in popularity over the coming years” said Grace Nozaki, Chair of the Fairfax Station Welcoming Committee (and event organizer).
As the Welcoming Committee plans for the tour for 2012, they are looking for home and yard options for the tour. Interested in your home being featured on the 2012 Fairfax Station Spring Garden Tour? Please contact the Fairfax Station Welcoming Committee at welcoming-committee@fshoa-va.com
